The flow ceased all of a sudden

Brian, from Ennis, is in no doubt he received an answer to prayer.

I recently had a very good reason to call on the intercession of Montse, which I’ll now relate as best I can. The story begins with my noting with suspicion a lesion on my right thigh. I attended my family doctor who referred me to a consultant. As an aside I should mention I’m well familiar with medical issues, particularly cancer, so this most recent saga didn’t come as a major surprise.

The lesion was surgically removed and sent to the lab for analysis. The result wasn’t too long coming back. An aggressive melanoma, requiring urgent investigation, involving further surgery in the same location as heretofore, with the added necessity of a surgical incision in the groin. Following the recommended surgery the subsequent lab results happily established that the melanoma had not spread to the lymph nodes. God is good. A great relief all round.

This is where things became interesting. The surgical wound in the groin did not behave, showing no sign of healing. Further surgery was deemed necessary, but no improvement. Without elaborating, what was happening was that the wound was draining what is called “serous fluid” and showing no sign of stopping. Dealing with the fluid; applying dressings and the like, meant that I was somewhat handicapped, to put it mildly, with no end in sight.

It was at this point that I was inspired during a prayerful moment to seek help, so I started a novena to Montse asking her to dry the wound so it would heal. Within a matter of two days or so the flow (200 mg approximately every 24 hours) ceased all of a sudden, much to the surprise of the public health nurse who was looking after me.

There may well be a medical explanation for this occurrence, but I’m in no doubt that I received an answer to prayer, courtesy of the Venerable Servant of God, Montserrat Grases.
